A- Gas relief massages

1. Massage around the bellybutton (clockwise), 10 minutes per massage, 4 times a day.

2. Bicycle massage. Lay baby on back and push one leg at a time on the tummy (as if baby is riding a bicycle), 10 minutes per exercise, 4 times a day.

3. Tummy time. Lay baby on their tummy with their arms around their head. Hold baby bum (butt) firmly. 10 minutes per exercise, 4 times a day.

4. Last resort! Gently insert q-tip or thermometer dipped in oil in baby’s anus. Hold in for 10 minutes, 4 times a day.

B-Gripe water

1 teaspoon every 4-6 hours

C- Disflatyl

10 drops, 3-4 times a day

D- Infacol or Dentinox

Depending on baby’s age, give 1-2 ml three times a day

Be cautious when using herbal remedies in the first 6 months of baby’s life.

Also, mom can eat/drink a variety of herbal remedies such as taking a spoon of ground cumin followed by water or a cup of warm Anise tea. These herbs will reach baby through mothers milk.

Note: breastfed babies do not need to be burped as often as formula fed babies or babies that use a pacifier.
